Sharpe Bros. was founded in 1980 by Steve Sharpe. It has grown along with the
Piedmont Triad area and established a reputation for high-quality services and
asphalt products.
Today, the company is a division
of Vecellio & Grogan, part of the
Vecellio Group, one of the Top 200
contractors in the United States, as ranked by Engineering News-Record.
Founded in West Virginia in 1938, Vecellio & Grogan has operated in North
Carolina for more than 20 years, building roads and bridges in many regions of
the state. In the past decade the company has gained a solid presence in
Greensboro, establishing a North Carolina division and asphalt operations to
service a number of projects centered around the Piedmont Triad International
Airport.
After acquiring Sharpe Bros. in 2006 and consolidating all asphalt operations
under the Sharpe name,
V&G and its Sharpe Bros. division have provided a full range of
heavy/highway and bridge construction (V&G), and grading, utilities and asphalt
paving services for the public and private sectors throughout the area.
“Sharpe Bros. is a long-established, well-known company in the Piedmont Triad
area,” said Bill Medcalf, V&G’s President of Construction. “Combining their operations with our resources
gave customers continued high-quality results, while allowing us to help grow the
business further.”
Leo Vecellio, Jr., CEO of Vecellio Group, had the highest praise for Sharpe
Bros. and its personnel. “With their organization's emphasis on quality and
safety, they were a perfect fit. We have thrived working together.”
The Sharpe Bros. division is run by Vice President and General Manager Ivan Clayton.
